Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek, who left the esports scene in April 2018, has made a surprise comeback by joining Sentinels’ Valorant roster. This came as a big shock to fans, as many had thought his announcement was a tease.

“I am back, baby!” Shroud said on Twitch.

Sentinels also confirmed the news on their official Twitter page, giving esports enthusiasts the confirmation they needed.

“The legend returns and he’s here to win @shroud joins the Sentinels Valorant roster,” Sentinels tweeted.

Following the announcement made by Hunter “SicK” Mims that he would be taking a prolonged time off work due to health issues and would not be completing the rest of the season, the squad was in need of a fifth member. Compared to the previous year, Sentinels have had a difficult time in the VCT and have thus fallen out on their early opportunities to compete for Champions.

Shroud last embraced the esport scene by playing for the Cloud9 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team from 2014 to 2017. After that, he left the team’s roster and started streaming, before he completely left the organization.

Shroud will be making his way onto the ever-growing list of CS: GO players to have made the switch to Valorant. Some of the competitive players who are on this list include Spencer “Hiko” Martin, Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom, and Tyson “TenZ” Ngo.

Although Shroud has not competed in professional Valorant besides streaming, reports says the 28-year-old will be playing in the North American Valorant Champions Tour if the team qualifies for the NA LCQ, which is scheduled for August.
