While Ultra got some of their best maps against OpTic, they are a team with a very deep map pool, which their opponents will have to respect. They are especially hard to beat on Skyline – Hardpoint (100%) and Vault – Control (83.3%).

Vancouver Surge ended Week 3 of CDL 2025 Stage 2 Major Qualifiers with a 0-3 loss to Los Angeles Thieves and a 3-1 victory against Miami Heretics. It was a bit of a down weekend for the Surge, who did not look as good as they had earlier in the stage.

While one rough weekend does not prove much in the bigger picture, Vancouver will face a very solid team who are on the upswing. At outsider odds, Toronto Ultra are a solid bet.

This roster should be playing better than they are, but something is not clicking, suggesting more changes are around the corner. And considering how much Optic have been struggling, it is very hard to find a good reason to feel confident about their chances in this match.

Los Angeles Thieves are in excellent form and enter the final week of CDL 2025 Stage 2 Major Qualifiers as the only undefeated team, with a 15-1 map record. They are in cruise control, and while the Thieves tend to try out different things in the final week before the Major, there is a good chance they sweep the struggling OpTic.

The Heretics have proved they can beat anyone on a good day. But they are one of the most inconsistent Call of Duty teams in the league, due largely to their poor Search & Destroy record and lacklustre Control map pool.

Carolina Royal Ravens played just one game last round, beating Cloud9 New York 3-1. It was one of their best games for the stage, and they looked excellent on Hardpoint, yet it remains to be seen whether the Royal Ravens will manage to keep playing at this level.

This is Carolina Royal Ravens’ game to lose, but you have to show some respect to Miami Heretics, who are resilient and a much better Hardpoint team. A close game is likely.

We saw this matchup last weekend during CDL 2025 Stage 2 Minor, and it did not end well for OpTic, who lost 0-3. It is hard to believe the rematch will go the other way.

OpTic have struggled a lot since the recent roster change and have not managed to put together a single map since the start of Stage 2—excluding their win against the Vegas Falcons.

There is a world where OpTic take a map, if we see Hardpoint-Skyline or potentially Control-Vault, as OpTic looked competitive in their last meeting with the Ultra. But considering their recent form, OpTic Texas will have to pull a rabbit out of the hat to upset Toronto Ultra.

Atlanta FaZe should have a field day in the final match of the day as they take on the shaky Boston Breach. As the offered betting odds suggest, there is a significant quality difference between the two teams, and their stats tell the same story.

Atlanta FaZe have a better win rate on all game modes, including Hardpoint (69.2% vs 52.6%), Search & Destroy (66.7% vs 37.5%), and Control (68.8% vs 27.3%). Boston Breach have not improved much recently, with losses to Toronto Ultra, Cloud9 New York, and Vancouver Surge.

With a 29.2% win rate, they are one of the worst Hardpoint teams in the league. They do well on Search & Destroy (61.1%) and Control (45.5%), but if you can’t win Hardpoint, it is hard to consistently win games.

OpTic Texas went 0-2 in the first week of CDL 2025 Stage 2 Major Qualifiers with losses against Atlanta FaZe and Minnesota R?KKR, which is concerning, although they’ve recently made a roster change, adding Amer “Pred” Zulbeari to the lineup.

OpTic Texas seem like they need more time to make their new roster work, but despite their struggles last week, it is hard to make a good case for Carolina Royal Ravens, who are trending in the wrong direction.

Vancouver Surge’s decision to add Travis “Neptune” McCloud ahead of CDL 2025 Stage 2 seemed to be the right call as they went 2-0 in the first week with huge wins against Atlanta FaZe and Cloud9 New York. While the latter was a close 3-2 victory, the Surge are now playing much better as everyone in the team is stepping up and delivering.

Los Angeles Guerrillas M8 got last at Major 1 and waited one more week to make a roster change, adding Noah “Lunarz” Whillock in place of Preston “Priestahh” Greiner. This change might not help the Guerrillas massively, although they should be better on Search & Destroy.

Vancouver Surge are priced as $1.62 favourites with the best CoD betting sites, which is a fair offer. Even though Los Angeles Guerrillas M8 should improve, the Surge have already proven that their new roster works.

The Heretics overperformed at the last Major, and while the Miami side might keep posting good results, the R?KKR are a very good online team with a better win rate on both Search & Destroy and Control.

Atlanta FaZe won CDL 2025 Minor 1 and Major 1, and there is little to suggest they can’t add two more trophies in the second stage. OpTic Texas, on the other side, have not been nearly as successful this season.

This will be the first official match between OpTic and FaZe of 2025, and the Texas team’s first match since the return of Amer “Pred” Zulbeari. Pred should help OpTic, but he will need time to be fully integrated into the new roster.

FaZe were the better team last year because they had a better map pool on Hardpoint and were a much better Control team. The same reasons apply this season, as FaZe lead on Hardpoint (71.4% v 58.8%), Search & Destroy (82.4% v 57.1%), and Control (61.5% v 55.6%).

Cloud9 New York were eliminated from CDL 2025 Stage 1 Major in the second round by Minnesota R?KKR. While that result was disappointing, it was nowhere near as underwhelming as Toronto Ultra’s elimination in the lower-bracket quarterfinals.

Toronto Ultra are very inconsistent, but Cloud9 New York have their own issues — mainly map pool. C9NY are not great on Hardpoint, have just one Search & Destroy map (Skyline) they look comfortable on, and can be hit-or-miss on Control.

This can easily extend to game five, in which case Toronto Ultra should be able to close it out. But at the offered betting odds, taking over 4.5 maps makes more sense.

Los Angeles Thieves are not in the best form either. While still one of the most stacked CoD esports teams in the league, LA Thieves have been extremely disappointing of late.

This is the best time to face Los Angeles Thieves, and even though they might do better on LAN, they do not deserve to be priced as $1.20 favourites against the Royal Ravens.

OpTic Texas are 8-1 from their last nine outings. The only defeat in that run came against Carolina Royal Ravens during CDL 2025 Stage 1 Minor, while they posted two victories against LA Thieves and Toronto Ultra in the final stage of the qualifiers.

OpTic and their chief rivals, Atlanta FaZe, are in a tier of their own. And while it is unclear how OpTic will do on LAN, this roster is experienced enough to not doubt in their chances to go all the way.

Miami Heretics secured a spot in the upper bracket with a 2-5 record, which only highlights how big of a gap there is between the top squads and the rest. While the Heretics did force LA Thieves and the Royal Ravens to five maps in the final week of the qualifiers, neither of those teams is in good form, and it is hard to see Miami competing with OpTic.

Cloud9 have not been playing well and do not seem to excel in anything. They are decent, but nothing more than that—and that will not be enough to derail the surging FaZe.

With the players on this roster, some improvement is to be expected. But ahead of this match, it is hard to make a case for Cloud9 New York as a serious threat for FaZe, who should not be dropping more than one map.

Toronto Ultra have a perfect record in CDL 2025 Stage 1 Major Qualifiers, with a +10 map differential. OpTic Texas are close behind, with a 5-1 series record and +8 differential.

Besides posting similar results, the two teams also have similar map pools. OpTic are slightly better than Ultra on Hardpoint with an 11-5 record to Ultra’s 8-5, whereas Tobias “CleanX” J?nsson and co. have a better win rate on Search & Destroy (81.2%) than OpTic Texas (57.1%).

While Toronto Ultra should win Search & Destroy, they are unlikely to take Control off OpTic unless we see Protocol. As a better team on respawns, OpTic are deserving favourites, but there is a good chance this goes to game five, in which case Ultra should close it out.

LA Thieves have a better record heading into the third week of CDL 2025 Stage 1 Major Qualifiers, but they do not have Brandon “Dashy” Otell. OpTic’s star is by far the best player in the league, ranking top-five across all metrics, including K/D (1.19) and Slayer Rating (96.97)—the first and second-highest in the league.

Moreover, the Thieves’ Hardpoint is not that good, which makes them vulnerable, especially against an elite team like OpTic.

Like the first two games of the day, this one should not offer any surprises.

Boston Breach, like R?KKR, freshened up their lineup after their shaky run through the 2024 Call of Duty League season. But even with the new signings, the Breach have some issues, mainly iffy firepower, which will show in respawns.

This is a winnable match for both teams and close to a coin flip, so we will gladly side with the underdogs at plus money.

Vancouver Surge enter the 2025 season with a much different roster compared to 2024, featuring two new pickups, Charlie “Hicksy” Hicks and Byron “Nastie” Plumridge. The core made the Esports World Cup 2024 semifinals, so there is some potential, but the Surge could struggle with their firepower this season.

This is where Jovan “04” Rodriguez will play a significant factor for the squad, who besides questionable firepower, have the tools to fight for a strong placement this year.

Like last season, the Surge could struggle against CDL’s top teams, which explains why they are priced as underdogs with the best Call of Duty betting sites. However, at this price and so early into the season, it is worth taking a shot with the underdogs.

Los Angeles Thieves replaced their entire lineup after a disappointing fourth-place finish in the CDL Championship 2024 and acquired Dylan “Envoy” Hannon, Paco “HyDra” Rusiewiez, and Thomas “Scrappy” Ernst. While we have not seen the Thieves play yet, this is a very stacked lineup which should compete for a podium finish this season.

Cloud9 New York created an interesting roster, with players who competed together before, creating a powerful synergy with plenty of talent to bite at the heels of the top squads. Whether the project will work out remains to be seen, but it is also hard to say whether LA Thieves will perform as well as expected, especially so early.

Regardless of Thieves’ higher ceiling, Cloud9 New York can keep it close.
