The campaign is set to commence in January 2019 and will consist of three phases, culminating in a US $2 million global championship in November.
Each of the first two phases will end with a yet-to-be-confirmed global event – one in April, the other in July.
The competition will welcome teams from nine regions – Europe, Latin America, North America, Oceania, and five Asian sections.
That is a significant increase from the projections laid out in PUBG’s five-year plan back in July, when only four regions were included.
Management of each regional league will fall to local partners, such as the National PUBG League in North America and the PUBG Europe League.
This is the most decisive move yet from PUBG Corp. in the face of growing competition in the battle royale esports market.
Battlegrounds is playing catchup with Fortnite: Battle Royale, which has enjoyed rapid growth in 2018 and now stands top of the class.
Epic Games, the markers of Fortnite, has committed $100m in prize money for future esports events.
However, lingering concerns over the game as a viewing spectacle have slowed the company’s plans to launch a Fortnite World Cup in 2019.

This update introduces a new weapon into the game — the SLR a Designated marksman rifle (DMR) — with a capacity for 10 bullets or 20 with the extended version. This new weapon is significantly stronger than the SKS.
There’s nothing like the smell of a new car. Players can find the new Mirado when they visit Miramar — a muscle car that will be available on the streets of the main cities. Four players can comfortably travel inside the new Mirado and it promises to be the faster car in the game.
Update 12 allows the player to pick the map where they want to play. This is a great option for players that wish to master a specific map and great preparation for the professional teams.
Helmets are changing too. Level 3 helmets grant more shieldinga and can be found only in the supply drops. Now players can take head shots, something that would cost them their lives in previous Updates.
The new attachments will improve the player’s experience inside the game. New grips and scopes are available thanks to Update 12.
Talking about weapons, the highly expected weapon balances are now live. The idea behind this balance is to make all the weapons viable for the players. According to PUBG Corp. the players rather take an assault rifle because it deals more damage. Now the damage dealt by the rifles goes down and the damage on other weapons goes up.
]]>PUBG Global Invitational (PGI) is the official name for the competition that is coming to a stream near you.
Between July 25 and July 29, 20 teams will compete for the $2 million prize pool in Berlin, Germany.
Making it to the final competition will not be easy. All teams must win through qualification tournaments in the three competing regions — Europe, North America and Asia.
Teams will compete in two different gameplays — third-person perspective and first-person perspective. Four-man squads will enter these modes on different dates and each mode will have a final winner after two days of competition.
Since its release, PUBG has broken all kinds of records. 30 million copies of the game have been sold since March 2017 and ongoing patches, including the Battle Royale, continue to keep the game relevant.
A good relationship between a game developer and its gaming community starts with communication.
PUBG Corp. certainly knows how to please its players and they released a statement this week, detailing coming changes to the game.
Based on the community’s feedback, PUBG Corp. is ready to introduce three major changes. These modifications should make the game not only easier, but also fairer.
Weapon balance is the first item on the list. According to their own statistics, most players use ARs weapons on every situation. The weapon of choice is not based on the utility or advantages it brings, but because most players know the AR is stronger. Balancing the weapons will change the way players face different situations.
Weapon attachment is another concern for PUBG Corp. and they plan on making some modifications.
Last but not least, the level 3 helmet will receive a little boost. Armour is the key to survive some matches and this helmet is a game-changer. This helmet is no longer available on the regular loot spawn tables.
Players can obtain the level 3 helmet on the care packages exclusively.
PUBG Corp. assured they’re committed to improve the game and the overall experience. Details about the exact stats of the weapons will come with the respective patch notes.
]]>This event introduced the heavily armored UAZ vehicles. Teams where seen engaging in vehicular combat having the option to shoot the other teams from their car. To obtain one of these vehicles, the teams had to shoot one of the flare guns but only if they were out of the safe zone. Inside the safe zone, the flare guns provided the players with care packages. The flare guns where available on the regular loot locations.
With this new mode, PUBG is taking a page from H1Z1’s play book. Early on the year, H1Z1 introduced the auto-royale mode. Teams of four players drove around the map collecting loot and shooting enemies. The main difference is that on the H1Z1 auto royale, a player cannot leave their car.
The reception of “Metal Rain” was positive and fans are looking forward to play it again. To stay on top of the trends, PUBG keeps introducing new game modes every weekend. Every event has its own set of rules and is played on a particular map.
This is an experiment for the company behind PUBG and events could become permanent in the future if the reception continues to be this positive. In the meanwhile, players can only wait for the next event.
]]>This new patch will bring some changes the fans have been asking for as well as some surprises.
