SK Telecom T1 defeated Griffin on July 28 to extended their winning streak to an impressive run of seven, reminding everybody why they are the most successful team in League of Legends esports history.

A fierce battle in the LCK Summer Split continues into week eight with seven teams fighting for spots in the playoffs. Only two points separate first from seventh, so the scene is set for a tight finish.

While still two wins short of league leaders DAMWON Gaming, SK Telecom T1 have found their rhythm since week four and now look like their former selves.

To say SKT had a tough start to the split would be an understatement, as Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and his crew found themselves in a 1-5 hole by the end of week three.

Things did not look bright for the three-time world champions; however, as all LoL esports fans should know by now, SKT are not to be underestimated.

The star-filled roster entered week four determined to show their worth, which is exactly what they did by defeating both KT Rolster and Gen.G with a perfect score of 2-0.

That was enough to get the wheels rolling for SKT, who have not lifted their foot off the gas since then. In the weeks that followed, they took down Hanwha Life Esports, Jin Air Green Wings, both KT Rolster and Gen.G for the second time and most recently Griffin to secure an impressive 7-0 win streak and a 8-5 record.

SKT started their clash against Griffin with a strong performance in match one, needing less than 34 minutes to destroy the opposition nexus. That was also the first match of the season Griffin lost despite holding a goal lead after 30 minutes.

Game two, however, ended in Griffin’s favor, as they required only 37 minutes to square the ledger. With that win, they also broke SKT’s streak of 13 wins in a row since week four.

Game three was close, but it was SKT who slowly built up their lead and piled the pressure on Griffin until they crumbled.

There was a lot of speculation about whether or not SKT could hang with the best following their less-than-impressive first three weeks, and the former world champs have given a decisive answer with their 2-1 win on Sunday.

However, SKT still have a lot to prove in the next two weeks when they battle Kingzone DragonX, Afreeca Freecs and Hanwha Life Esports for a spot in the LCK Summer playoffs.
