What is the Rocket League Winter Split

The Rocket League Winter Split Major will be the second Major of the RLCS 2022-23 season, with the top teams from every corner of the globe congregating in San Diego, United States.

Across the three days of competition we will see 16 teams play in the Group Stage, before they are cut down to 12 teams for the playoffs.

The victorious team will take home the $100,000 first place prize along with the top RLCS Points (40). All 16 teams will hail from European, North American, Oceania, South American, Middle East/North African and the Asia Pacific regions.

When is the RLCS Winter Split Major?

The RLCS Spring Split Major will begin on April 6, with the grand final set to be played on April 9. Every day of the Major will see the teams play at the San Diego Convention Centre in front of a full crowd.

RLCS Winter Split Major Tournament Structure

The 2022-23 RLCS Winter Split Major will be the first time that we see the new Major system, with all 16 teams being split into four separate groups to play in a single-game round robin.

Below you will find the complete tournament format in detail.

• Group Stage

  • 16 teams will be split into four groups of four to compete in a round robin format
  • Each team will play each other in a best-of-five series
  • The winner of each group will qualify to the Quarterfinals of the Playoffs
  • The second and third placed teams will qualify to the first round of the Playoffs
  • The fourth placed teams will be eliminated
  • Tiebreakers will be worked out by using the following stats; Match record, Game differential against tied teams, Game differential and Initial seed

• Playoffs

  • Single Elimination Bracket – 12 teams total
  • Each group has eight teams
  • The winner of each group will receive a bye into the Quarterfinals
  • Round one matches are best-of-five, the Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Grand Final are all best-of-seven
